Thank you for your interest in the role of Corporate Director, Resources (Section 151 Officer) at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

We are proud of our record of trailblazing support for residents – from universal free school meals and school uniform grants to unprecedented investment in social care, youth services and community safety. Our recent achievements include a balanced three-year budget, the opening of our new award-winning Town Hall, and Ofsted’s ‘Outstanding’ rating for our Children’s Services.

Yet we are clear that there is more to do. Following a Best Value Inspection, government Envoys are working alongside us in a new collaborative model of improvement. Their early reports recognise the strong progress we are making – setting out our cultural change programme, embedding stronger governance, and strengthening leadership capacity. We are determined to maintain momentum and deliver lasting change.

To achieve this, we have built a new leadership team, bringing stability, focus and renewed ambition to the council. We are now strengthening this further with the appointment of a Corporate Director, Resources, who will play a pivotal role in driving improvement across finance, resources and transformation. As our Section 151 Officer, you will provide strategic leadership of Finance, Procurement, HR & Organisational Development, IT, Audit and a wide range of enabling services. You will ensure public money and assets are safeguarded, drive forward our Medium-Term Financial Strategy, lead transformation across HR and digital, and strengthen corporate alignment at the very heart of the organisation.
